Description Chewelah, Washington 1933 Airplane photo of Chewelah, taken by the Washington State Highway Dept. 3. Embrey house, one of the tree building moved from Embrey, sat on N.W. corner of main and 2nd street. Mr. Keyes(Kies) was the postmaster. Martha Conrady Goodman at 9 years old, would ride into town on her horse to pick up the mail at this postoffice. There was a pet Parrot down the road, at the Palace Saloon that would cuss as she rode by. Next door was a Confectioners Store owned by Palmer and then by Carter. 4. The Palace Saloon 5. In the middle of the street was a turning post. the Vienna Bakery run my Schmid related to the Schmeller. Later Mrs. Sety lived in this building. Mike Sety (Cash Store) building next door. In the center of the block was the water fountain. Across the street was another Sety building, a junk store. next to the Pomeroy was the Low Oman, behind is the Joy Lavishing house. Back ground is the bell tower for the city hall, and the grade school. The bell from the tower is now at the City hall (old grade school) on Clay street. The car about 1916-17 Buck. 6. The Cottage hotel, K.C. Hall, Knights of Columbus, used for dances. 1912
