Description: Empress Hotel under construction On June 1913 construction began on the Empress Hotel and Theatre. The Chewelah Independent Newspaper was also housed in the white brick building. The old Reno Cafe and Hotel may be seen in the background. Building by H.T. Skinner and picture by Steelhead.
