Description: This photo which has the appearance of a Steel head picture was no doubt taken from the top of Quartzite. He called it "Chewelah, 1910, The Gold & Copper Camp". At this time several mines were producing copper, silver, and small amounts of gold. Notice how Main St. peters out in a winding lane. In the center is the main road to Colville and points north. The predominant building is the present Chewelah Pharmacy. St. Mary's church in foreground.
